Once data has been loaded, Panoply allows users to create and save views, which are essentially saved SQL queries that can transform data in a variety of ways. Writing and saving views is accomplished within the Analyze screen within Panoply.
Here is a simple view that filters a table of NBA players that I have in my data warehouse based on the year in which they played and the teams that they were on.
SELECT player FROM "public"."nba table" where year > 2000 and tm = 'MIN'
I can save this view by clicking the three-dot menu at the top right-hand side of the screen, selecting Save as…, naming my view, and accepting it.
Once I’ve created a view, I can open it through the same three-dot menu by selecting Open… and choosing the view I just created.
