When creating data sources in Panoply, you are offered the ability to exclude certain fields from the collection. This can be important if you have sensitive or irrelevant information on the source side that you don’t want to end up in your data warehouse. The Exclude option is located within the advanced options in the data source configuration screen.
The Exclude feature also allows users to skip the collection of nested fields. For example, if you had an object in your data called
field1, you could skip the collection of all data in that object by excluding it. If the object you wanted to skip was nested under another object, you could use dot notation to skip that nested object. For example, if I wanted to skip the collection of data from an object called
field2 that was nested under
field1, I would enter
field1.field2 in order to exclude that
